Based upon an Email received in 2015 from Brent Simpson ( brent.simpson30@gmail.com ), via the NolanFamilies.org website, we know that:

Brent Simpson traces his Nolan ancestry back to his great great grandmother named Cora Nowlin. Brent has researched his family tree back to the 1500s in Co. Carlow and from the particular spelling of the Nolan family name, i.e. “Nowlin”, it is evident that Brent’s Nolan family connection goes back to the James Nowlan/Nowlin who settled on Beaver Creek in Virginia in the early 1700s.

RN NOTE: The above-mentioned James Nowlan who settled on Beaver Creek, VA, is known to have been a Shangarry Nolan. This Nolan line is one of several within county Carlow in Ireland who descend from a 2nd century prince of Ireland known to history as Eochaidh Fionn Fuathairt.
