Denis Nolan, was born in Dublin around 1828/29 and raised by his family in Co. Wicklow. Among his siblings he had a brother, William, living in Templeogue in 1870’s and a sister, Mary, in the same area.

In 1852 he married Margaret Cullen (daughter of Ellen Cullen) at the Immaculate Conception church in Bray. They arrived in Australia in 1853 and had 14 children. The youngest, James Nolan, was my grandfather.
