IE-KIK – 1850s – Peter Nolan and Mary Whitigan to St Mary’s, Ontario

Based upon an Email received in 2015 from Bryan Wilkerson (Bjvwguy68@gmail.com) , via the NolanFamilies.org website, we know that:

Bryan’s Nolan ancestor, a Peter Nolan, was born around 1816 in Ireland and around 1831 he married a Mary Whitigan born in 1811, also in Ireland 1811. While still in Ireland they had a daughter named Jane born on March 3 1832 somewhere in Co. Kilkenny. While still a young girl, in September 1847, Jane married a John E. Morris.

It is not known when Peter Nolan and his daughter Jane emigrated to Canada but, by emigrate he did, settling in in St.Marys, Ontario, where he was a farmer. Nobody knows where Peter & Mary are buried. Their daughter Jane Morris nee Nolan died November 30, 1923, in Harrington,ON.

John E. Morris and Jane Nolan had altogether 10 children.

P.S. Brent lives in Stratford, Ontario, and is anxious to solve the family’s brick wall.

RESEARCH NOTE (RN: 31-May-2026):

Following is a baptismal entry which shows that Jane was baptized in the town of Carlow on February 23, 1832 and which suggests that her parents, at the time, were not yet married and living in Dublin.
