Brick Walls still being fleshed out before posting here

My Grandfather was James Lloyd Nolan. I’m looking for information on his grandfather Peter Nolan who immigrated from Ireland.

I have been searching for over 20 years for my great great grandfather’s parents in Ireland. My issue is that when my great great grandfather came to America he claims he was a stowaway. I hear that this is a story of a lot of irishmen. I do not know when he came over. I do not know what ship, where he left from, or where he landed in America. I believe he landed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, due to his settling quickly in Georgia. He made it to South Georgia before the American Civil War, could have naturalized when he entered the war but the records are burned, along with all of his records.

I just recently completed (to the best of my ability and knowledge) my full family history beginning at my great-great grandmother Mrs Cora Nowlin and ending at Adam (the first man). I was pleased to finally piece together some of the missing family after about the 1500’s. It appears my patriarchal lineage goes back to a brother of Conn Cedelach (Conn of the Hundred Battles) namely Eochaidh Fiona Foharta.

I’m from Stratford, Ontario. I hope you can solve a family brick wall that has been bugging our family for years. I have a Peter Nolan born about 1816 Ireland. He married about 1831 Ireland to a Mary Whitigan born about 1811 Ireland. They had a daughter Jane born March 3 1832 Leinster, Co.Kilkenny, Ireland she married my ancestor John E. Morris Sep.1847 Leinster,Ireland.

Peter lived in St.Marys, Ontario, and was a farmer. Nobody knows where Peter & Mary are buried. Jane Morris nee Nolan died November 30, 1923, in Harrington,ON. John and Jane Morris had 10 children.

My name is Harry Nolan, I’m a 29 year old Brit currently living in Australia, with the proud sur name of Nolan. I’ve recently been looking into my family history more. I know he migrated from Ireland to England in the 1800’s and I’ve recently discovered this website. I would love to join the Nolan Clan organisation and hear about any other communities that I can join. I’m generally interested in learning more about the Nolan’s, past and present and getting in touch with any of my potential long lost family.

Thanks, Harry

Having just visited Galway recently to see the remains of Carrowbrowne Castle where my 14th and 15th x great grandfather lived I learned a lot talking to the landed estates Dept of Galway University and to the eminent archaeologist Rory Sherlock. However I discovered from my own research that the original castle was built by David Le Brun, a 13th century grandson of the first Norman Chancellor in Ireland. However, what I would like to know for my family tree is who was the father and maybe grandfather of Donell Oge O Hualachain? …

I’ve one source who thinks it may have been Melaghlin O Nuallain and if so I have a descendants list for 10 generations before this, but I need to know if this one is true before completing my family tree. Can you help from your research?

My Nolan family is from Galway and my 2 daughters and I are going at the end of Sept (2025) to research. I only know Galway from death certificates but no townships or further information. Do you have a list of Galway Nolans that we may contact? We will first go to Dublin, the National Archives and the National Library. Thank you for any help you may give us.

Searching family history back to their Irish heritage; I would appreciate your direction for further Ireland history.

What I have is: James H. Nolan born, 10-8-1854 Springfield ILSon of: Mr. & Mrs. John Nolan, originally from Ireland.

John Nolan made ocean voyage to Springfield IL, then sent back to Ireland for his betrothed Marya Sheehan, her rough perilous six-month ocean crossing. They had 7 children: James H., Nellie, Maria, Lucy, John, Peter and Kathryn. John H.worked for his uncle Pat Sheehan in Kansas as Livestock farmer. Returned, bought land and tended bar in Morrisonville.

Apologies: Forgot to add in my previous question to you on Saturday: John Nolan *** possibly on Immigrant Ship Columbus 17 FEB 1851, Listed Passenger #227, Liverpool England via Fayal

Azores, to NY, (betrothed: Marya Sheehan, sent for later).

Their 7 children were born in Springfield Illinois.
If you would mind sharing what direction I may search for my additional family history, or where I might find it in your collection? I seem to have come to a dead end. Not even certain if this is the
same John Nolan on the Columbus Ship.
Thank you again.

Hello Roger. At a recent funeral several family members wanted information on the next gathering. Could you kindly provide any such information that you might have. I attended two such

gatherings back in the ’90s that were held in Carlow County near Tulon(sp?). I suggest that two dozen Nolans in my immediate family in the USA would attend God willing. All the best to you and

yours, Dick Nolan
