John Nolan Jr. & Anna Donahoe - c1916, Litchfield, NY320 viewsAround 1876, at the age of 18, John emigrated to the US and found work as a farm hand in Herkimer county, NY. Within a year or two of his arrival, around 1877-78, he married Anna Donahoe. Their first child, also called John, was born in 1879. John and Anna had 12 children: John, Margaret, Mary, Sarah, Michael, Dennis, Thomas, Ellen (Nellie), Merton, Edward, Agnes, and Ruth.

John Nolan, Sr. c1915 - Litchfield, NY312 viewsJohn Sr., born in August 1822, joined his son, John Jr., in America after the latter had saved enough money to pay for his passage to America . According to family tradition, John Sr's wife, Mary Connor, and mother to John Jr. died young while the family was still living in Co. Carlow. The picture was taken at the family farm in Litchfield township when John Sr. was about 94 years old. John and Mary had 6 known children: Mary, Julia, John, William, James, and Michael.
