Edward James "Ned" Nowlan (1888-1971)191 viewsNed was born on February 5, 1888, in the area of Pokemouche, New Brunswick, in Canada. By his mid-twenties, he had established himself as a blacksmith and owned his own shop. In November 1914, he married Brigitte Robichaud, and some two years later, in Spetember 1916, they emigrated to the US first settling in to Bridgeport, CT, where Edward worked at the Remington Arms factory. Their one and only child, Anthony Joseph, was born August 29, 1918 in Bridgeport, CT.

In January, 1919, Edward and Brigitte left Bridgeport, Edward working at various places (Berlin, NH; Bristol, CT; Lawrence, MA) until 1925. In that year the family settled in Cambridge, MA, where they bought a home and joined the French-Canadian parish of Notre Dame de PitiƩ.
